Why do we discipline ourselves as Christians? Is it to earn God's approval, demonstrate our devotion, or become more like Christ? An unexpected lesson from my daughter's gymnastics practice reminded me that discipline is not punishment. It is training that helps us grow into the people God has called us to become.
