Lately, I have been thinking about death—not physical death, but the death to self Scripture calls us to. Relationships, health, purpose, forgiveness, and spiritual growth all require moments of surrender. Something often has to die for something better to live. But Romans 8:13 reveals the good news: we do not do this alone. There is grace, through the Spirit, for death.

Watching my daughter skip exercises at gymnastics practice taught me another lesson about discipline. I knew what she was capable of, yet she was missing opportunities to develop her skills. What gifts, abilities, and opportunities has God entrusted to us that remain underdeveloped?
