The Knowing God Series: Express- Shining God’s Light Into the World

So far on our journey of knowing God, we’ve learned that it begins with cherishing Him above His gifts, then abiding in His presence to bear fruit, and pressing deeper to pursue Him wholeheartedly.

Now we come to the fourth step: Express.

Those who truly know God receive from Him and then represent Him to their world. We weren’t designed to merely contain God’s goodness—we were designed to channel it.

Those Who Know God Do Great Exploits

Daniel tells us:

“…the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits.”— Daniel 11:32b (NKJV)

To know God is to shine.

To know God is to act.

To know God is to express His heart, His wisdom, His compassion, His solutions, and His power into a broken world.

And the world is indeed broken.

Wars.

Genocide.

Corruption.

Perversion.

Unrest.

Rising incurable diseases.

The list feels endless. I stopped watching the news because it either made me deeply sad or extremely angry.

We look at the world and cry out to God—sometimes asking for help, but many times blaming Him.

For things He did not do.

God Is Not the Author of Destruction

Daily, God is accused of crimes He did not commit.

We call natural disasters “acts of God,” as though the One who died to save us is now killing us to teach us lessons.

Why would God send Jesus to suffer for us only to destroy us afterward?

Wouldn’t that contradict everything Jesus came to accomplish?

You see, when sin entered through Adam, it corrupted everything :

• Humanity

• The soul

• The body

• And the earth

When we are born again, our spirits are saved instantly—but our souls (mind, will, emotions), our bodies, and the earth itself still live under the consequences of sin.

That’s why:

• Our souls must be influenced by the Spirit to align with God's desire, so our joy, peace, and sound mind flow from within us.

• Our bodies must be yielded to the Spirit, so we do not carry out fleshly desires, and we can be healed using the power resident in our spirits.

• And the earth… waits on us.

Yes, us.

Creation Is Waiting for You

Paul says:

“The earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”— Romans 8:19 (NKJV)

Creation is not waiting on God.

Creation is waiting on God’s sons and daughters to rise.

To step into our God-given roles as His representatives on earth.

We often ask God to intervene in situations where He is waiting on us to express Him.

It’s a hard truth, but it’s a liberating one:

God is not the problem. We are the missing expression.

We are waiting on God, but God is waiting to work through us.

You Are the Light of the World

Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”— Matthew 5:14–16 (NKJV)

Light expresses itself.

Light is meant to shine. It doesn’t apologize for shining.

Light is meant to reveal. It doesn’t shrink because darkness is present.

Light is meant to push darkness back.

Light simply is, and therefore darkness simply cannot remain.

Your assignment is to shine — not through self-effort, but through the God who lives in you.

If you ever feel like you don’t have time to pray, read Scripture, or worship, remember this:

You cannot express the God you haven’t spent time with.

You cannot be the answer to someone’s prayer without being with the One who answers prayers.

Jesus modeled this beautifully:

• He withdrew to be alone with the Father

• Then He returned and healed, delivered, restored, and transformed lives

He first abided, then He expressed.

We are called to do the same.

God Has Limited His Expression to Us

In His sovereignty, God has chosen to work through His people on the earth. He has chosen to let us determine whether we will be:

His fruitfulness OR His barrenness

We can decide whether He moves through us—or is hindered by us.

This is why knowing God matters.

Not just for our salvation.

Not just for answered prayers.

But because we are Heaven’s answer to the earth’s pain.

I truly believe that inside the children of God, waiting to be expressed are:

• The cures the world needs

• The innovations that could change nations

• The solutions to systemic darkness

• The wisdom to rebuild families

• The compassion to heal trauma

Choose to Express Him

So I implore you: Express Him.

Let His goodness flow through you.

Let His wisdom pour out of you.

Let His love shine through you.

Get to know Him deeply, fall in love with Him passionately, and obey Him joyfully—and watch Him touch the world through you.
